The International Parents and Kids Club (formerly known as International Mums & Kids Club, IMKC) is a non-profit, social organisation whose purpose is to support and lead activities for English speaking families with young children. We proudly welcome parents from all countries. IPKC provides a supportive environment with other parents and children, especially for families who are new to the area. We all know what it’s like to move to a different country and we want to make your adjustment to this area easier.
The club was established in July 1996 by 19 founding members. There were around 100 members during the 2017/2018 membership year. Numbers can of course fluctuate during the years as families arrive and leave Zug or as children move on to nursery or Kindergarten.
Nannies and other childminders are also welcome to bring your child/ren to our playgroups and activities.
After many years based at the Christlicher Treffpunkt in Zug, we were looking for a fresh and bright new space which could also be used in the summer months and has an outdoor space. After a long searching period we found it and in December 2017 we moved to a location which is more child friendly and where we have more flexibility in activities and what we can do with the room.
We organise daily age specific playgroups or mixed age playgroups for the children to learn, play and interact with other children. The Club runs on a volunteer basis, so please let us know if you would like to help in any way.
IPKC is pro vaccination and we adhere to the Swiss recommended policy on immunisations. Therefore, please respect this and ensure your child is up to date before joining a playgroup.
When your group meets at the club room, all adults are required to wear masks before entering and we will keep windows open for enhanced airflow. Please leave shoes and coats outside of the room at the coat rack as well as using the hand sanitiser before entering the room.
We will be introducing a designated clean up time so that we can keep the room as clean as possible. Therefore the last 15 minutes of the group will be dedicated to wiping down the toys that have been used during that session.
Your group leader will ask for one or two volunteers to help with this each week. We really appreciate all the help and support you can give your group leaders to help keep the room as safe as possible for everyone.
If you or your child have any COVID symptoms, including any sort of cough, cold or temperature, we ask that you stay away from playgroup until 48 hours after your symptoms have gone. If you’re in doubt about any particular cases, please get in touch with us.
If you have had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 or have had Covid symptoms/positive test within your family, please only return to IPKC at least 14 days after your last contact/after symptoms have ceased. We have chosen to stick to 14 days because we want to err on the side of caution with lots of pregnant mums in our community, who are on Switzerland’s at risk list, in addition to the close proximity we will have to each other in the room.
